Pay Back

I guess the trade off for being so happy to go home for thanksgiving was having a terribly difficult time getting home. All the days leading up to Sunday showed openings on several flights back home. We really didn't think it would be an issue getting home. We left Moses Lake at 7:30am to drive to Spokane. After missing several flights in Spokane and spending hours on the phone with my dad and different airlines we finally made it on a Southwest flight to Salt Lake City after 2:00pm. Once we were in Salt Lake we tried to jump on a flight to LAX but it was oversold and another pilot already had the seat in the flight deck. I had to leave Brandon and run to another terminal to try and get on a different flight. I barely made it. I had a stand-up for work starting at 9:25pm and I didn't want to risk not getting to LAX. Brandon then spent the rest of the night flying from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas then Vegas to Orange County. Unfortunately because the weather was bad in Orange County US Airways diverted to Phoenix. He arrived in Phoenix at twelve or one in the morning. After trying to sleep by baggage claimT he caught a flight on Southwest first thing this morning. They still couldn't get into Orange County. Luckily they diverted to Ontario, CA. Mindy, Brandon's sister, was kind enough to pick him up. He didn't get home until around noon today.

I made it to LAX but the weather was right at the miminums to get in. I was suppose to fly one leg to Monterey and come back first thing this morning. When we left LAX, Monterey had great visibility and clear skies. By the time we arrived some unforecast weather had come in and had reduced the visibility to 1/4 of a mile. We can't even attempt to get into Monterey unless it is at least 1/2 mile visibility. We diverted to San Fransisco. We didn't arrive at the hotel until one in the morning and had to get up at five to go back to the airport. We couldn't depart when we were scheduled to depart this morning because the weather in LA was too bad. I wish someone would have just called and told me to stay in bed. We were around two hours later getting home than what we were scheduled for. I made it to the house just before Brandon got home.

Needless to say we are both totally exhausted. It was so great to be able to go home but boy it was torture getting back!

Oh man. That totally stinks. We'll do anything for some turkey and a good slice of pie right?
