The Big Move

Things have been a little chaotic. Last week we moved the remainder of our stuff to Boise. I use the term "we" loosely. I helped pack up the stuff but Friday-Monday I had a four day trip for work. My brother-in-law, Jared, flew in on Wednesday. We all spent most of the day Thursday packing. I spent the time inside and Brandon was in the garage. Jared came to drive the red work truck. Brandon drove his truck. Mitch Toffdahl drove his truck and trailer. They planned on leaving in the evening on Thursday. Things took a little longer than anticipated and they didn't get on the road until nearly 10:00pm. I picked up my dad on Thursday night from the airport. He left Friday morning and drove my car to Boise. They all eventually made it safely to Boise. Brandon, Jared, and Mitch had some rain the last 45 miles or so. My dad unfortunately didn't have the best driving conditions as he encountered snow and had to drive 30mph at some points. My car started getting sick halfway through and running rough.

This weekend was my official first trip as a commuter. It didn't go very smoothly. On Friday night we had to cancel our over night in Inyokern due to extreme severe turbulence. Because we were in LA and LA is our base the company would not provide us with hotel rooms. I had Mindy drop me off at the airport earlier so when that last leg was cancelled I didn't have a way home. The first officer didn't live in LA either so he caught the last flight to Sacramento. My flight attendant was nice enough to drop me off in Brea on her way to Upland (not the most direct route for her.) Because of that cancellation the company added a round trip to Yuma on my trip for the next day. That made Saturday a 14 hour day for me. It was totally exhausting. Plus Pat and Mindy had to drop me off at work again Saturday morning. I guess in general it is tough working over holiday weekends especially when you know that family is getting together. Easter is definitely not the same when you're at work.

I am grateful for everyone that helped us with the move. Thank you so much Jared, Mitch, and Dad for driving! Thank you Mindy, Pat, and Dennis for helping me get to work and back! What would I ever do without such great family and friends!

Now we have the fun task of trying to get everything organized and put away. Luckily Brandon did a lot while I was at work!

Congratulations on being all moved in! One day I will have to visit! I can't believe you finally came to Yuma again, and I don't even live there anymore. Sad.
