August is a blurr

I think I was home a total of 6 days in August. I ended up having to stay down in California 17 days straight because of my work schedule. Brandon came down one day to visit me. I was really grateful for his efforts even though it didn't feel long enough.

On Sunday the 7th I was able to fly with Eric Lowe. His dad work's with my dad. I gave the head of hiring his resume even though I didn't know him. I continued to follow up until he had an interview and was hired. He was on his first trip off of training. We flew a round trip from LAX to San Diego. His parent's put me up to taking some pictures for them. It was suppose to be a quick round trip but we ended up having problems with the automatic pressurization system. We were able to get the manual pressurization system to work but we were required to have maintenance come before we could depart again. We had to wait over an hour for maintenance.
On August 15th we learned that my Uncle David had a condo in Maui for a week starting on the 19th that he didn't think he could use. I knew that I was working the 19-22nd but I definitely didn't want to see the place go empty. I started brainstorming to see how we could make it work. In the end, David and Peggy were able to go. They were also able to bring two of their kids, Brad and Kylie. And my cousin Brandon went too. They told us to join them for any part of the trip that we could.

The last day of my four day trip at work was really long and we ended up getting done around midnight. I knew that I had to be back at the airport by 5am to fly to San Francisco to meet up with Brandon. Then we would be flying to Maui. I decided that I was too tired to drive anywhere so I crashed on a couch in the crew room. We aren't technically suppose to sleep there. An hour later (1:00am) this guy came in and kicked me (and another pilot crashing there) out. He waited for me to gather all my stuff and walked me up to the gate. It was so totally frustrating. Where was I going to go at 1:30am for 31/2 hours? I started crying a little bit. I tried to sleep at the gate but that terrible elevator music was playing very loudly with the horrible TSA announcements every 2 minutes. I gave up and started reading my book. Luckily Brandon and I made it to Maui without any problems.

It was a really quick trip for us. We flew in Tuesday and left Thursday night. I am really glad that we went though. The condo was really nice and it was a beautiful location. We relaxed by the ocean, went on some beautiful walks, went swimming in the ocean (and the boys jumped off some cliffs), went snorkeling, watched a couple movies, ate some good food, and enjoyed great company. My Aunt and Uncle are so much fun. I love talking with them and hearing their stories. I am so blessed to have such a great family.

We took a red eye back to LAX. Brandon continued home but I had to stay and work. After work, I went to Santa Maria. My parents were in Santa Maria visiting some family friends of ours. Peggy Moffat and her daughter Maddie were visiting from Mesa. Megan (Peggy's other daughter) and her husband live in Santa Maria. They recently had a baby boy. We all had so much fun talking. We did take a drive to see Avila Beach but other than that we just talked and talked. Sunday my parent's and I left.

I had two days at home so I finally did a marathon cleaning day. I literally cleaned from 11am to 9pm. I was exhausted but boy do I love a clean house.

Now it's a holiday weekend so I'm working. I just finished a three day trip arrived home Friday and left Saturday evening. I was able to see my parents again as they were visiting for the long weekend. I wasn't able to see Brandon much because he worked both Friday and Saturday. Jared and Lindsay (my cousin and my best friend from high school) stayed the night Friday night on their long drive to Disneyland. We stayed up talking until nearly two in the morning. I felt so bad for Jared because he looked so beat but he was a total trooper. I'm glad we were able to catch up.

Now you can see why it's been a crazy month.
