The Day Before Leaving

Tuesday 26th of May I was called into work first thing. On the way to work Brandon sent me a text that Brian and Becka had not gotten the ticket from Lima to Cuzco in time and now the fare was $400 a person. They couldn't afford it. You can't really go to Peru and not go to Cuzco. They told us thank you for the offer to use the buddy passes and to have a good time without them. I really wanted to go and see my Aunt and Uncle in Peru but felt bad ditching our friends after we had all gotten time off to go on a trip. My cousin Ashley was planning on going too. I didn't have much time to do anything about it because I was at work.

I did check the loads for Ashley and told what had happened and that I thought she should go a day earlier. The loads looked way better Wednesday than Thursday. She was understanding about us not going but I felt bad. What a hard position to be put in.

On my flight back from Palm Springs to LAX I sat next to a man who has pretty much lived everywhere. I told him that I had already been to England, Scotland, France and Italy and asked where he thought we should go. He suggested Spain as well as Greece and the Mediterranean.

When I arrived home from work I was glued to my computer checking out our options. When I mentioned Spain Becka didn't seem too excited. I told her to start looking into some of the places that were options to go and that I would check the seat availability. She did some research on Spain and decided it sounded really cool. The loads to Spain looked good so we decided to go for it.

We went to Barnes and Noble. I purchased a Rick Steeves Spain book and she purchased a Let's Go Spain book.

I got everyone listed for the next night. We decided to take a red eye from LAX to New York City. Then we would be taking a 5 pm flight out of JFK to Barcelona.

Wednesday I had to run a million errands. Mindy (my sister-in-law) was super sick because she is pregnant. I went over to borrow something and ended up taking her two girls with me to run a bunch more errands. I went to Brandon's work, Wal-mart, and Macy's to name a few. I didn't get back to our apartment until almost 6:30pm.

I decided to check the loads to JFK. They looked really bad. It is amazing how quickly things can change. It looked awesome the night before. I didn't think we would make it on this flight so I frantically started looking for a back up plan. It looked like our best option was going out of San Diego the next morning and flying to Atlanta instead of New York.

We drove to Brian's parents house because they were going to take us to LAX. I told them all that we probably wouldn't make it on the flight and told them the numbers. They all wanted to give it a shot anyway. We made it to LAX and actually made it on the flight. I was shocked but relieved! Thus began our very random trip to Spain.
