New York City

I had been promising my friend Amanda that the next time I had a few days off I would come visit her. Amanda has had a rough year and a half or so. Her husband is an investment banker so since the financial crisis hit he hasn't been paid. I didn't know it before the visit but he recently got a new job.

I took a red eye to JFK and took a subway to their apartment. Amanda had left for work. I was there alone and slept for a few hours. I went to a nearby park and jump roped. Then I went down to Amanda's work. After she was finished we walked around the city talking. We stopped and had frozen yogurt too. Matt was home when we arrived back to the apartment. The 3 of us stayed up until 2:00am talking. It was fun getting caught up.

Matt and Amanda had a meeting with a lawyer first thing in the morning. When Amanda got home we walked to Central Park. It was beautiful outside. The leaves on the trees were incredible. Matt invited us to lunch. Amanda and I looked totally ghetto and most of the people in the restaurant were dressed in suits. We walked all over the city in 50 degree weather and shorts. I was freezing. We picked up cupcakes for Matt's birthday. We picked up groceries and had manicure and pedicures. That night we did the boxing game on the Wii with the kids, celebrated Matt's birthday with cupcakes, and watched some shows.

Amanda had to work Wednesday morning. I went to the park to jump rope. Then I went to see my cousin Mitch. In the meantime Amanda found some tickets for us to see Westside Story. The show started at two. By the time I arrived at Mitch's place I only had twenty minutes or so to visit with him. I was bummed it was so short but so glad I was able to see him.

The subway I took dropped me right near Broadway but I wasn't sure where Westside Story was playing. It was only a few minutes until the show started so I just started running. Luckily Amanda saw me through the window and ran out for me. I barely made it. The show was great! I didn't realize the show was so sad!
We had dinner at a delicious Italian restaurant. Then I went and grabbed my bags and took the subway to the airport. It was a very quick trip but I'm really glad that I was able to go.
