I had recurrent ground school the first week of January. I flew in the night before and Corbin came to pick me up. We drove to his new apartment in Provo. My cousin Kelsey and her new husband Ninja dropped by to move some of their stuff. I was so excited to see them. I wasn't able to attend their wedding because I was working. My cousin Brad arrived a few minutes later. Corbin made us all quesadillas. Then Corbin drove me over to my cousin Cali's house. She wasn't there but I really wanted to see my Uncle Doug and Aunt Connie before they left for Madrid Spain. It was so fun to chat with them...it always is! Mike Jones was there for a little bit too. I couldn't stay too long because I had an early morning for training and Corbin had a soccer game.
Ground school wasn't bad either. My friend Jon Ashment, who was in upgrade with me, was in ground school too. I actually knew several people there. The information that was presented and the manner in which it was presented was also an improvement from the past.
The next week I had two more days of checking/training. I went to Fresno to the Brasilla flight training device. Art Embry was my instructor. I was with a Fresno captain who has been at Skywest for 10 years named Danny Reinherz. We ended up getting done early enough that I was able to catch the late flight back to LAX.
Thursday we had our simulator ride with Tyler Allen in Long Beach. Tyler is very professional and has a calming affect. He is fair. Our oral exam and simulator ride was very straight forward.
I'm so grateful to have all that training stuff come. It seems to come up so quickly. I feel like I have to put life on hold to study and prepare for it. Now I can relax.
