Whirlwind

My time at home always feels like a whirlwind. I worked all day Friday. I wasn't finished working in time to catch a flight to Boise. In fact, I didn't get back to Brea until after 11:00pm. I had to wake up at 5:30 to catch a flight back to Boise.

My parents picked me up from the airport. They came to town for Mikkel's birthday and baptism. They dropped me off at Myca's house. I changed and got ready for the day.

That afternoon I met up with an old friend from high school. I have been really resistant to joining Facebook but after the move to Boise Brandon opened an account for himself and then for me. I have been really blessed to find some people that I have completely lost track of. I believe Facebook, in many instances, makes you feel like you have reconnected with people when really you have just found them. You maybe send one message, look at a few photos, and that's about it. But the nice part is that when you find someone you have a chance to take it to the next level.

I learned that Jaimi McGuire lives in Boise too. Not only did we dance together for years but she also lived a few blocks away growing up. Phoebe Poth, Jaimi, and I did a lot of random things together. We formed a safety kids club (to earn money), went around the neighborhood washing cars (to earn money), and we even woke up before school to workout on occasion (because I was as crazy then as I am now.) Jaimi gave me rides to drill team my sophomore year. As dancers, we would all sit around in the dressing room talking and laughing. I completely lost touch with her after high school.

She and I went to lunch on Saturday afternoon. We basically talked for two hours straight. I had her run me through what's happened in her life from after high school to the present. Then I did the same. We really could have even talked longer but her baby woke up and I needed to meet up with my family. It was really great to see her and to get caught up. I hope that we will be able to hang out regularly.

I met up with Brandon, my parents, Myca and family, Ryan and family at the river. I was really late so I didn't get to stay long. That was my first time down in that area and it was beautiful.

We went to Mikkel's baptism that evening. I can't believe he is eight. When the bishop asked him what he wanted to sing for the closing song he said "Once there was a snow man." Classic Mikkel. The Snowman song in the middle of summer...does it get any better than that? We ended up singing I am a Child of God. Then we were off to Ryan and Nena's house for hot fudge sundaes. I also had my first Smash Burger later that evening.

We enjoyed a typical Sunday. My mom and dad left town but Corbin arrived in town. Overall a great weekend. It went way too fast though. I flew back to LAX this morning.
