Eugene

I was called by crew scheduling last week to do a 2 day trip out of Portland. The overnight was scheduled in Eugene. I have never had an overnight trip in Eugene so I was totally excited. I served 9 months of my mission in Eugene. Kate and Aaron Shumway live there still. We taught Kate when I was covering two singles wards in Eugene. Kate, Aaron and their 2 kids met up with me at the hotel for dinner. I haven't seen them since their wedding 5 or so years ago. It was so much fun getting caught up. I think we could have spent all night talking. Unfortunately, Kate recently started a job as a drug rep with a pharmaceutical company so she had a lot of reading to do and I had to get up at 3:45am the next morning. I was so grateful I was able to spend a few hours with them over dinner though.

The second day of the trip was pretty brutal. It was a long day (7 flights.) The weather was not good and we had no long breaks. On our first flight to Seattle we had to circle around (hold in a pattern) for around 30 minutes. That put us behind schedule all day. We barely had time to use the restroom. My brain hurt from concentrating so hard. Luckily, we worked well as a team together and made it through the day. I commuted back to Boise that night.
