Boston

Last weekend was Veronica's wedding. She and I have been friends since I was 20. We met while doing an internship at Walt Disney World. Amazingly, we have kept in very good contact. Before my mission, we both took our brothers to Walt Disney World. After my mission, she came out to Seattle and Moses Lake. When I was in Florida, she came down both years. I've been to Boston to see her. We've also met up in LA and San Diego when she had work trips. She and her now husband Matt even came to our open house in Moses Lake after we were married.

Things didn't go very smoothly last weekend. I had a work trip on Friday. I made all my travel plans based on the assumption that I would be done flying at 1pm in San Francisco. I woke up at 4:15am to start my work day. When I arrived at work there was no sign of a first officer. Someone told me later that the guy scheduled to work with us didn't come in because his wife went into labor. Unfortunately we were delayed 5 hours. We didn't get out of Palm Springs until 10:30am. I missed the flight I was going to take to meet up with Brandon to go to Boston. When I made it to San Francisco, I scrambled to find a flight that had seats available for us to get to Boston. Nothing looked good. Finally I found Brandon a flight to San Francisco. Then we took a flight together to Las Vegas. From Vegas we took a red eye to Boston.

We arrived in Boston at 8:30am. We had no hotel and I was totally greasy. My friend, Hiwot, connected me with her cousin that lives in Boston. We drove to Zita's house to use her shower. I was praying she would have a blow dryer. I figured that almost every girl does. Zita didn't. I didn't want to go to the wedding with wet hair so I opted for the totally greasy hair look. Anyone who knows me, knows I can't go more than 24 hours without washing my hair. Yuck! We headed straight from Zita's to the wedding. The wedding was held at a church just outside Boston. It was a formal Catholic wedding with communion and all. It actually lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. Veronica looked beautiful and the ceremony was beautiful.

Next we headed to Fenway Park. We wanted to look around. Jared, my brother-in-law, is a huge Red Sox fan so we stopped by an official Red Sox merchandise establishment and purchased a few items for him. The reception was outside they city and we didn't have a hotel yet so we didn't have time to see much else in the city.

We found a hotel online that was cheaper than anything else but a total dumb. I was so exhausted by the time we arrived at the hotel. We took a quick nap. We missed the cocktail hour and arrived at the reception just in time for dinner. Actually everyone was already seated for dinner by the time we arrived. Dinner was delicious. We sat at a table with all of Veronica's college friends. Work called me a few times about working the next day. I knew that we would have to take the first flight out in the morning. Some of Veronica's college friends and I started dancing. Veronica joined us for awhile too. Brandon and I took off a little early knowing we were going to have to get up really early for our flight the next morning. Also, Brandon didn't want to miss too much of the BSU game that was going on. Luckily we were able to find it on TV at the hotel.

We had to get up at 5am to catch our flights. We stopped 5 or 6 times to get cash for toll roads. Apparently no one gives cash back in Boston. We made it to the airport on time. I flew to Los Angeles and Brandon flew to San Francisco. It was a really quick trip but I'm so glad that we went. Matt and Veronica mentioned several times that they were so grateful that we went all that way to celebrate with them. I'm thankful to have such great friends. It was an honor to celebrate their union with them.

looks like fun but sounds like a nightmare. You look great even without washing your hair.
