The Worst Turbulence

Yesterday I hit the worst turbulence I have ever encountered. I was flying from Inyokern to Los Angeles. It was very windy on the ground in Inyokern and I knew it would be a rough ride. It was really bumpy during the climb out. It smoothed out when we got up to altitude. As we started our descent into LA we hit momentary severe turbulence. My first officer hit his head. I hit my ankle. Everything went flying in the flight deck. We got an alarm for the oil because the oil went flying and the engines didn't register that there was any oil. I immediately called to make sure the flight attendant and passengers were ok. It continued to be bumpy on the ride into LAX. Luckily my landing was sweet! When we arrived at the gate I made an announcement that if any passengers had questions or concerns I would be outside to talk to them. Some people were pretty shaken up. We ended up having to call the EMT because one guy had struck his finger on the hook for the tray table and separated his finger nail from his finger. He was bleeding really bad. I guess another guy hit his head bad enough to crack the paneling inside the aircraft. The mechanics had to come check out the aircraft. Both my first officer and my flight attendant left right after this happened even though we had 6 legs left of our trip. It was crazy!

That's crazy lady! It's like when I am doing a delivery and it starts to go south I just pray and pray for that baby at that moment. I can only imagine that day for you. Glad everything turned out ok! Brandon and I were just talking about you to someone the other day and how you were a great woman pilot. We are proud of you!
