Corbin flew into LAX Friday night and by the time we got back from airport and on the road, it was about 9pm. We rode to Vegas to stay the night at Sam's house (Alysha's cousin). We had to stop a couple time on the way for gas and warm up a little. The weather and wind from riding on the bike were so cold that our hands and legs were tough to move by the time we pulled up to Sam's house. The bikes were the same models and only 650cc so they had a tough time pulling up the long hills between Baker and Jean. It takes a lot more energy to ride smaller bikes as you constantly have to be on the throttle to keep your momentum and bike up to speed.
It took awhile for us to warm up at Sam's but we slept well and got back on the road Saturday morning. Just North of Vegas we split off the 15 to highway 93 that takes us North through Nevada to Twin Falls. Corbin missed following me off the exit to the 93 so I had to wait awhile for him to figure it out and meet up with me on the side of the road where I pulled over for him to catch up. The ride through Nevada was fairly uneventful; it was a sunny day and the weather was nice for us. The bikes are pretty heavy and the bikes burned through gas pretty quickly. Us keeping the speed up and a few headwinds probably didn't help much either. A couple times we needed to pull over to switch over to the reserve tanks and we even needed to use our backup gas can to get us into Wells. The weather turned pretty cold again after we left Wells and stayed cold through Jackpot, Twin Falls and on into Boise. Corbin picked up some sweet sweats and flannel jacket at the gas station in Wells to keep as warm as possible. We were pretty tired by the time we made it to Jared and Myca's in Boise, and our faces were burned and eyes blood shot from the windburn of riding all day. Due to the bikes needing regular gas stops, we made pretty poor time and had a long day.
We spent the night in Boise and Corbin rode his bike back to Provo as I caught a plane home. We went to Wal-Mart where he bought some coveralls and a neck/face warmer to keep dry and warm for his ride back.

Wow, that does not sound even the least bit fun! I'm cold just thinking about it...
Pretty rad bikes though!
Not jealous of that little trip! But I do love Corbin's coveralls...he's pretty hot!
The trip sounded like fun to me. Ever since I read "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" I have wanted to take a long trip on a motorcycle.
I am so happy that you found my blog and that I found yours! I am SUPER excited about Schweiz. Please come and see me. I will be there a year au pairing and will have plenty of time for weekend getaways to other fun places in Europa. So COME and then we will see what we can.
I think when I come back I will only be able to afford a bike (I am selling my car before I go). Good to see that you made good use of your bike!
