A Saturday Off

It is not often that I am not on reserve on a Saturday. This past weekend I had a few days off in a row. Originally I thought I would be able to meet up with my family in Vegas to celebrate my 30th birthday with them. Unfortunately Nascar put a damper on those plans. Brandon was really disappointed when he learned that we wouldn't be able to celebrate my birthday the way he imagined. He spouted out a bunch of different ideas. I asked if my mom would at least be able to come down to visit me. Then Brandon mentioned that maybe we could meet up with my parents in Boise. We weren't really sure what we were going to do. Last minute I decided to go to Boise on Thursday night. It was a quick trip. Brandon met up with me there on Friday night and we left late afternoon on Saturday.

Thursday night I must have been a good luck charm because Jared is in police academy and never gets to come home during the week nights. Well, he did get to come home Thursday night for a few hours. We all ate pizza and watched some shows. My nephew, Tayden, wasn't sure that he wanted to hang out with me...until he saw that I was eating food. I shared my pizza with him and we became tight.

Friday Myca and I did a legs and back video from P90X. My mom took the boys for a walk while we did the video. We headed over to September to get our hair done. Before September cut my mom's hair my mom made it a point to say how anal she is about her hair. Then she gave very explicit instructions. It made me laugh. Luckily she was happy with the cut. We went back to Myca's and got ready for the day. We all chatted for a while. I was good luck again because Jared got home early. We went out to dinner. Later that evening we picked up Brandon from the airport. Also Jared's old mission companion, Josh, came over. He was driving through heading to Seattle. He just got married a few weeks ago and his wife is there. He is a pilot for the Air Force and is leaving for Korea very soon.

Saturday went way too fast. The boys headed to a store called Joe's and found some shoes. My mom mended some shirts and jeans for me. We all sat down to eat together and then it was time for Brandon and I to go. I hate that it was so short but I will take any opportunity I can to see family. Plus when I actually get a Saturday off it is nice to get out of town.

I sent my cousin Kim a text first thing Friday morning (she lives right by Boise). Unfortunately I had the wrong cell phone number. I didn't know until around 4 in the afternoon when I got a text back saying that I didn't have the right number. So I got Kim's real number but by the time I got a hold of her it was too late. Luckily I get to see her this coming weekend.
