Recurrent Ground

Thursday I flew to Salt Lake City for recurrent ground school.  I wanted to get into Salt Lake a little early so that I would have time to meet up with Corbin.  I arrived around 4 pm.  Corbin was released from work early so he made it to my hotel shortly after 5 pm.

We went to the Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner.  I haven't been there forever but it always brings back great memories when I do.  We even were given a table in the trolley.  After dinner we went to Baskin and Robins.

It is always so much fun to meet up with family.  Corbin and I were together for at least four hours with never a dull moment.  It seems like with family that you always have so much to talk about.  I could have talked with him longer.  I was sad when he had to leave.  I'm sure that he had some very important socializing to do though.

I had to be up at 4:15 my time to go to ground school.  It was a long day with some information that was pretty boring.  It was kind of hard to stay awake.  We covered everything from security information, hazardous goods and materials, fatigue, alcohol recovery program, time of useful conscienceness and high altitude symptoms, aircraft systems, etc.  The most invigorating part of the day is when we each have to put out a fire, take out and put in the emergency exit doors, use a life vest, and remove and replace emergency equipment items (like oxygen masks, crash axe, smoke goggles, etc).  We were released by 3 pm.

After class we were taken directly to the airport.  It ended up being pretty foggy so we had to sit on the taxiway for over an hour.  Luckily I had a book to read!  By the time I got home I was pretty worthless.

How fun that you got to spend time with Corbin. Oh, and I love going to the Old Spaghetti Factory. I always feel extra special when I get to sit in the trolley part!
