I have been worried about my mother-in-law for a while but when I saw her on Saturday I knew it was time for an intervention. She is 5'5 and down to 98lbs. She said she weighed herself a few weeks ago and was 106lbs. Not good! It isn't that she is trying to lose weight. She is just emotionally and mentally stressed so she feels too sick to eat. And honestly I don't think she cares enough about her health to do anything about it. I decided to call her insurance company right then to find out who she could go see that would be covered. Of course it was a Saturday so no one could help me. I tried again on Monday. I called the behavioral health line first. After asking a bunch of questions (all that I was able to answer so obviously my mother in law had given me the info) they told me that due to Hipa laws they couldn't give me that info. All I was asking for were names and addresses of counselors not personal info about her. They told me that they could talk to Brandon so I had him call. They were willing to talk to him but wouldn't give him the specific information he was asking for and just told him to send his mom to her primary care physician. How frustrating! This of course was after three or so calls from me and three or so from him. They did call Kemy. She made an appointment to see her primary care doctor. I guess it's a start but I know that we need to hit every angle of this...physical, mental, emotional etc. I hope that we can help her.
