I was on reserve from Tuesday through Saturday last week. It is definitely an adjustment being on reserve in Los Angeles while Brandon is in Boise. It is also an adjustment living out of a suitcase while I'm on reserve. There is only so much I can get done away from home. I get online and try to pay bills and other things of that nature. There is only so much time I can spend on a computer without going crazy. By the time the evening rolls around I am really ready to get out of the house!
On Wednesday I was called by work 4 times. They called me in the morning before reserve started to tell me they had added flying to my schedule. Then minutes later they called and said I was back on reserve. Then on my way to the gym they called to tell me they added a four day trip to my schedule. After the gym I went and picked up food for my trip. I went back to the house to do laundry, pack my bags, pack up my food, and get ready. Just as I was about ready to leave for my trip they called back and told me I was back on reserve. ANNOYING! The only good part about Wednesday was that I spoke with my friend Jacob Bennett for awhile. We met while I was flight instructing in Florida. When we lived there he tried to teach me to surf. I hadn't heard from him in a long time and it was really fun to get caught up. By 6:00pm I was sick of being at the house so I walked up the street to the Demke's house. They are in my father-in-laws ward. I ended up staying there until around 10pm. One of the young men from the ward, Dane Albrecht, was there cooking them dinner (he sold dinner at an auction to raise money for a Scout thing.) I showed up right in time to have breakfast for dinner.
Thursday evening I was antsy again. I went down to the mall to pick up some powder. Mindy called to see if I wanted to meet her and the girls at the park. I drove down to Aliso Viejo. We went to the Spectrum in Irvine. The girls decorated some cupcakes. Pat and his dad met us for crapes at dinner. Then we took a few rides on the carousel. I was glad to get out of the house and spend some time with my nieces and sister-in-law.
Jim and Pennie, my friends from Park City, rented a place in Surfside for a week. Friday I went and spent the day with them. We relaxed on the beach for an hour and had some lunch. Then they had some friends join us. We talked for awhile. Then we went and walked around downtown Seal Beach. We had dinner in a little Irish Pub. Jim's daughter, Jen, and her dog, Dorph, came a little later. We all sat around talking. I ended up staying the night. I love Jim and Pennie! I'm so glad that I was able to spend some time with them.
