Sorting Things Out

Brandon's sister, Melissa, had a break in school so she came to town for a little over a week. She arrived while we were at the Earl family reunion.

Brandon arranged for Chelsea and Billy to come to town while Melissa was around. He figured that between Chelsea, Melissa, Mindy and us we should be able to put a dent in going through and organizing some of the stuff in the house and the garage.

Brandon had to work that morning. I just started to fold up fabric in the middle room. Dennis was going through cupboards and drawers in the bathroom and kitchen. When Brandon made it home I told him that someone needed to direct everyone. We did as much as we could in the middle bedroom but a lot of the stuff belonged to Melissa. She was out looking for some boxes (we had no boxes or trash bags...hard to do much without that!) We had offered to help her put her stuff in storage containers throughout the week but she had other things going on. We moved out to the garage and started pulling things out there. When Melissa arrived home I helped her go through her stuff. All the girls had to go through many random items that Dennis had pulled out that he didn't want. We had to decide if anyone was interested in the stuff or whether to trash it. The boys were still pulling out stuff from the garage. When we went back outside to help it was time to go through stuff out there. We did what we could and kind of hit a wall. Dennis was going through books to decide what he wanted to keep or not. I finally just asked if he would go through with us what he wanted to keep, give to Desert Industries, or what he wanted to toss. After we had stuff separated we moved the "keep" stuff back in the garage and took the DI stuff to the truck.

We all quickly took showers and headed to Lucille's BBQ to celebrate Brandon's birthday. His birthday is on the 30th but we thought it would be fun to celebrate with his family in town. Some of our friends came too. We ordered the family style dinner which includes so much food. I had to work very early Sunday morning. When I arrived home Brandon and I worked on the middle room. It still isn't done to this day. Brandon did have a heated moment with his sister, Melissa, because we were dealing with a lot of her stuff and he kept asking her to help...she kept disappearing. He was really frustrated.

There is a lot that needs to be done with the house. Dennis has a lot of stuff to go through. He has a number of improvement projects for Brandon to help with too. It is slow going but Brandon tries to work on what he can after he gets home from work. Hopefully we can get the home in selling condition in case that's what Dennis decides to do.
