Washington and Bring the Boys Back

During the first couple weeks of June I talked with Ryan and Nena to invite Zaymes and Mikkel to spend some time in California with me. I knew that things were a bit overwhelming at the time for them. I figured the boys could use a fun vacation to California. That would also free up some time and energy for Ryan and Nena. Ryan told me it was up to Nena. Nena thought it was a good idea. Once it was established that they would be coming I had a hard time reaching Nena again. I decided just to go to Washington on my days off and hoped to bring the boys back with me. I left Wednesday after work on the 17th and had to leave Friday to get back in time for work. Mandi and the girls were in town. It was fun to see them. I will admit it was an emotionally stressful visit. At one point I even was left at Grandma's pool with no cellphone or car with all the kids. I did have an enjoyable time with Angie. I went to dinner with her and some friends for her Birthday. In the end I was able to bring Zaymes and Mikkel home with me.

Mikkel had never been on an airplane before. After we had been at the Pasco airport for ten minutes he started asking when we were going to leave. He was bored. Zaymes had flown down to California to see me before so he was an old pro. We were flying stand-by and had no trouble getting to San Francisco.
It had looked really good going from San Fran to Orange County but by the time we arrived there it wasn't. We weren't able to get on the first flight. Again Mikkel was bored. We did go get some food. I scrambled to find a back up plan. By the good grace of God we were able to get on the last flight to Orange County. We all had middle seats. Mikkel sat right behind me and talked the ear off of the guy sitting next to him. It was really cute. One of the funniest things that Mikkel said a couple of times was about why he and Zaymes were coming to my house. He told me that because I don't have any kids that I would be lonely going to the swimming pool and beach by myself. Also if Uncle Brandon were to go out of town I would be by myself and lonely. They had to come down to keep my company. He told me he thought I should have some kids.
